The sign was provided for the Village by the Woman’s Institute in 1981 following their diamond jubilee in 1980. A competition to design a village sign was part of their jubilee celebrations and the winning design by Mrs. Dorothy Woodhouse was the basis of the current sign. It was constructed by the late Mr. Herbert Brown (Village Blacksmith) and painted by the late Noel Patridge. It was dedicated by Reverend Julian Barker and unveiled by the late Mrs. Ivy Collen.
Our thanks go to the W.I. who provided the sign and have continued to maintain it over the years.
